    Hello All,

    I have switched my BBS from Maximus/2 to MBSE. The BBS itself is closed right now while I do some more work but the mail system itself should be working okay. If there's any hiccups, my apologies in advance.

    Nice! MBSE is a great system. Great that it's still being developed & opensource too. Have fun and good luck!

    Wow, that must have been fun setting it up along with mbse :)

    Does the mbse password routines work well when a bbs user creates or changes their password as Mageia v8 does not, so I do not have any bbs users other than
    myself. It has been like that since Mag v5 or so.

    Basically when mbpasswd runs it fails but can't remember with what msg but can always try to add a new user to find out. I did report this issue some years ago but no responses and my attempts to try and work it out failed :(

    Not really; Devuan is a mature system so it's pretty easy to use.

    Yes. MBSE works very well with Devuan which is why I'm using it.

    Have you opened another ticket on it? That's an issue that deems looking at from what I can tell.

    I thought I had a long time ago but looking at the tickets both open and closed
    and there is none covering that issue,

    I will do a test over the next day or so and create one on it assuming the issue is still present but it may well be Mageia related !

    I can login via user bbs then as entered user using local connect via localhost
    I cannot do the same using telnet or ssh via applewoodbbs.linkpc.net as respond
    s :

    Trying 82.18.192.50...
    telnet: connect to address 82.18.192.50: Connection refused
    and for ssh :

    [vince@applewood ~]$ ssh applewoodbbs.linkpc.net
    ssh: connect to host applewoodbbs.linkpc.net port 22: Connection refused

    1. I cannot see what is missing in set ups but the router is open for port 23 to the bbs box.

    2. /etc/xinetd.d show as last entry :

    --
    service telnet
    {
    disable = no
    protocol = tcp
    instances = 10
    flags = REUSE
    log_on_failure += USERID
    socket_type = stream
    user = root
    server = /usr/sbin/telnetd
    server_args = -L /home/mbse/bin/mblogin
    wait = no
    }
    --

    /etc/passwd must be correct for user bbs as logging in for the 1st time woked along with the newly created user.

    Bit puzzled am I :)

    Firewall for ipv4 is open as security is done in router by passing all to bbs system server service via sec server unit and I know that works as I can connect both way via a M/F. Plus the error reported looks earlier in the food chain, I think.

    As I said going in via cnt/alt/F2 works fine amazingly so.

    Even if it is distro-specific, we should either try to fix it or warn people about it. <G>
