Keith,
I did try a randomizer in the programing, but I could not figure it out. the LB>code can be changed manually to either letters or numbers.
I have a program for Windows with a "random number generator". I tell
it to generate a six digit string from 100000 to 999999 -- then click on Generate to get it. Then, I make a note of such in Notepad, and enter separate copies.
Right now, I'm just using it with the original code...I tried putting
it in once, and the system threw a fit, probably because of a naming
deal for the original.
I have to admit though, it's keeping the bots from every making it to
the logon prompt, because I haven't seen a telnet logon with "Root",
etc. in a long time. I did lower the maximum concurrent connections to
1, and for those IP's repeatedly activating that (trying more than one simultaneous connection), I just put them in the trashcan.
On another note, were you going to try a deal to drop a connect after
3 incorrect tries?? Right now, they're not tying up the line that long,
and when the system doesn't respond, I guess they time out, or hang up
on their own.
Daryl
