Hello All!
I have everything working, when I copied it to the server and logged in I noticed that it displays synch.ans (which I had deleted)
doesnt disply my logon.ans (custom ansi)
and non of the random.ans.
They are all there in the correct place?
is there something I should look at, I have checked
permissions, etc everything is as it should be so not sure what happened.

synch.ans is only there for the web server (ftelnet splash screen). I think you're thinking of text/menu/logon.asc.

What filename did you use and what directory?
Doesn't sound like it.

ok I deleted that one and it stopped showing up on telnet login..

on both setups they are in the exact same spot, /sbbs/text
and non of the random.ans.
What filename did you use and what directory?
in /sbbs/text
random.ans
random2.ans
random3.ans
random4.ans
random5.ans
Doesn't sound like it.
here is ls /sbbs/text
answer.msg banner2.msg email.can ip-silent.can
newuser.msg random4.ans subject.can avatars
banner3.ans example.sif ircmotd.txt packet
random5.ans system.ans badpassword.msg banner3.msg
feedback.msg lbshell_bg.bin password.can random.ans

banner1.msg bullseye.cfg host.can menu
random2.ans sbbslist.hlp xbit-add.ans banner2.ans
doorparty.ans ip.can name.can random3.ans
sbbs.msg zipmsg.txt
not sure what would supercede logon.ans or random.ans here?

This part is fixed. It now displays my custom splash screen, I
had copied it to /sbbs/text and I guess it needed to be in /sbbs/repo/text/menu? Anyhow it displays it.
and non of the random.ans.
none of these are displayed, I tried to follow same logic and put
them in /sbbs/repo/text/menu but is not working

You generally shouldn't copy your own stuff *into* the repo directory
or any of its subdirectories. (Though there are some situations where
it's okay.)
Is your /sbbs/text directory actually a symlink to /sbbs/repo/text? I would remove the symlink, copy /sbbs/repo/text to /sbbs/text, and then manage the contents by hand moving forward. This path is potentially
home to lots of custom content; I wouldn't want git managing it for
me.
Thank you this response was quite helpful and I have everything working as it should, well for the most part.
