Is it normal for nslookup to fail for fxnet?
nslookup f100.n1.z21.fxnet.nz
** server can't find f100.n1.z21.fxnet.nz NXDOMAIN
It seems when I try to send a netmail out it synchronet chokes because the lookup fails ...
nslookup f100.n1.z21.fxnet.nz

the proper domain is fsxnet ;)
but i note that apparenetly they are not doing the fnz domain lookups

I haven't heard anything. Check with Avon (Paul).

i hadn't heard anything, either, but i'm not in fsxnet and haven't
really been paying attention to my BBS in the last year or two for
various reasons... i saw DM mentioned it the other day and my tests
doing fnz conversion of random fsxnet addresses and attempting to look them up on fsxnet.nz failed... eg: the following lookup for 21:1/100@fsxnet
$ nslookup f100.n1.z21.fsxnet.nz
Server: 192.168.42.1
Address: 192.168.42.1#53
** server can't find f100.n1.z21.fsxnet.nz: NXDOMAIN
i don't find anything obvious in the HISTORY.TXT file about
discontinuing the fnz conversion lookups, either... not a big deal, though... i simply removed the entry from my binkd-networks.conf file
so my binkd won't attempt fnz conversions and lookups for any fsxnet systems...
