There is one configuration point that I don't understand at the moment, and that is how to tell Areafix that eg. when writing to "Areafix@77:2/108" only the areas from the message group "SciNet" should be listed (and available).
For message Areas set in echocfg -> Echomail Settings -> Allow Nodes to Add Areas from Area File to no.
Then you need to create echolists in echocfg -> EchoLists, and give nodes access to those echolists as appropriate. Depending on your setup that might be one or several echolists.
I am not sure how to go about that with Filefix. There is a new Filefixrobot
but I haven't looked at it yet.
So I have to create a file for every network and attach these files tothe
nodes?
And every time some echos in a network change (which does not happen very often, I know), I have to re-export the list?
It would be a feature request to just select a message group instead of a EchoList file in echocfg for each node, the echolist could then be read on-the-fly...
Hi,only
I've configured several FTN networks in my BBS and mostly use OpenXP as a point.
There is one configuration point that I don't understand at the moment, and that is how to tell Areafix that eg. when writing to "Areafix@77:2/108"
the areas from the message group "SciNet" should be listed (and available). (The same would apply to Filefix@77:2/108, it also should only output file areas from the SciNet Library)
How can I configure this?
Hallo Al,
thank you for your answer!

Okay :)
I suppose there might be an easier way. There are no security levels or flags in echocfg so this is the only way I know to do it.

There are "Keys" in echocfg which control access to echolists.

Yes, when I say security levels and flags I mean that in the way we have security levels and flags for BBS users. When folks have been using another tosser they may have been using that for node configuration but it isn't present in SBBSecho's configuration.
SBBSecho accomplishes the same thing with echolists by granting keys to nodes to access echolists of areas.
You should already have an echolist for every network. You shouldn't have to create it.
More likely, you get a copy of the echolist distributed to you automatically via FDN (hatch) already.
Not really, as the echolists normally are included in the InfoPacks and are not hatched as individual files - or I did not see it.
This is very prone of older networks like FIDO, WWIVnet, and Vnet. Younger networks are more likely to be adding new echoes a mot more often.

What is Vnet?
