  • How to unscrew my binkd/echocfg setup

    I've been trying to setup my system "properly" using help from several people and seem to have a problem.

    domain fidonet /sbbs/fido/out/fidonet 1
    domain advnet /sbbs/fido/out/advnet 1
    domain agoranet /sbbs/fido/out/agoranet 1
    domain amiganet /sbbs/fido/out/amiganet 1

    I was advised to setup separate outboxes for each network I'm part of and was told to use zone 1 for all of them. Easy enough.

    I did the same in echocfg, however I discovered that binkd tagged a hex number to the end.

    So I changed my echocfg to use those directories.

    I created an outgoing test message for agoranet and it wrote the file into the agoranet.02e directory.

    bbs@bbs:/sbbs/fido/out$ ls -l agoranet.02e/
    total 8
    -rw-rw-r-- 1 bbs bbs 16 Dec 24 02:20 00010064.try
    -rw------- 1 bbs bbs 562 Dec 24 01:51 5fe44867.pkt


    However if I have binkd make a call to the hub, nothing gets sent.

    I'm pretty sure outboxes (oboxes) are specified on the "node" lines in your binkd.cfg file, not on the "domain" line.

    I did the same in echocfg, however I discovered that binkd tagged a hex number to the end.

    Which tells you that it's not treating the path as an outbox but rather as a Binkley Style Outbound (BSO) and following those directory naming rules.

    SBBSecho's meaning of outbox is the same as Binkd's - it's an alternative way to send files to a link, outside or in-addition-to the normal BSO/FLO scheme. --

    Use the following if your tosser doesn't support 5D BSO (and I don't think sbbsecho does):

    domain fidonet /sbbs/fido/out 1
    domain advnet /sbbs/fido/out 1
    domain agoranet /sbbs/fido/out 1
    domain amiganet /sbbs/fido/out 1
