  • 40/80 col banner.msg

    hi, I have ports 64 and 128 open to
    accept 40 or 80 col mode, and the login
    page for each port shows the correct
    number of columns in the terminal
    readout dependin on what port you
    connect with.

    i have versions of banner.msg set up
    for each width, ie banner1.40col.msg,
    banner1.80col.msg etc, but it's still
    50/50 which version i get no matter
    what port i've connected with.

    Have I just made an obvious mistake I
    can't see?

    Are you using the random banner feature (i.e. @menu:../banner*@ in text/answer.msg)? Try changing that to "banner1" instead of "banner*".

    Hi all, solved it!

    it was answer.msg i had to split into .40col/.80col extensions, and setting each one to search for a different base filename for the banner msg ----------------------
