• Synchronet SBBS List

From Crushed@1:103/705 to All on Sat Jun 6 12:46:48 2020
Hi all - this is a test to make sure I have my DoveNET settings correct and the
chance to ask a quick question about the sbbs list.

When I first configured the newest version I was hoping to have a DNS entry shortly but that hasn't panned out so I wanted to just post my semi-static IP address in the listing.

I updated my entry locally on my BBS, but it doesn't seem to be pushing out to the list... the last few days the synchro.net/sbbslist shows my system as "offline" since it's still using the invalid entry I used when first configuring (figuring I could change it later).

What's the quickest and easiest way to "push" my updated local entry to the public list? I can't seem to find the documentation for htat.

Thanks all, and awesome to be part of the BBS world again :)

Here's how your BBS entry is on Vertrauen:

If you make a change to any local BBS entries in the sbbslist, the next to the SBL2SMB timed event runs, it'll export the new/updated entries to the SYNCDATA echo. Should all be automatic.

Thanks all, and awesome to be part of the BBS world again :)

Strange, I edited the local entry on Jun 04... I just updated it again with the
new DDNS entry so i'll see if it updates overnight.

I seem to be running "Synchronet BBS List v4(1.43)" - I assume that's the correct version as I didn't change anything from clean install (Win32).

    Thanks again, cheers!

Do you have messages in your "SYNCDATA" message base? Perhaps double-check that the "SBL" messages from your system are being exported into it. You can do this with "smbutil" if you don't see the message base while logged-in.

    That version should be fine.

I just checked the SYNCDATA msgbase here on Vertrauen and indeed, there is only the single message from you (Crushed @ T0kerz) to "SBL" on June-3rd. So either the SBL2SMB timed event isn't running/working or your SYNCDATA msgbase is no longer connected to DOVE-Net.

There's a SYNCDATA Avatar message from your system on June-6, so it appears the message base is still connected. So double-check that SBL2SMB timed event. You can also run 'jsexec sbbslist export' from a command prompt to see what it says. Normally, that event runs at least once a day and exports any new or updated BBS entries.

It'd be interesting to see your entry in the sbbslist.json file (you could copy and paste that here). Perhaps you did something funky with the date/time of your computer?

I didn't do anything funky with the date/time that I know of (except entering 2005 for "first online" to match when my sbbs was first online), it's a fresh windows install and a fresh sbbs install. The only things I've copied across from my 2005 sbbs archive are my xtrn door folders, and the sha/hash/sda/sdt/shd/sid files for 2 local message boards (general and notices)

This all looks fine. I think the problem is the that default export frequency is 7 days. Set export_freq = 1 in the [sbbslist] section of your ctrl/modopts.ini file to over-ride this (change it to 1 day). You may need to create the [sbbslist] section.
