I'm still having some trouble uplaoding two different files with different names that have long file names, e.g.
test_eight_1.txt
test_eight_2.txt
When I upload these files to vert, the short name is resolved to TEST_E~D.txt and TEST_E~E.txt. But when I upload these files to my bbs they both resolve to TEST_E~1.txt
What command can I run to see what lfn is being returned by windows?
Can someone share their sexyz config to see if that is my problem?
Im running the board on a Windows10 vm.
Also, how do I see the values that are being returned by SBBS for example. %p path and %f file name?

In this case I'm uploading these files using the "Batch Upload" menu which does a blind upload.
When I use addfiles I can add the files ok its just when I upload the files via telnet or ftp that I have a problem.
It's possibly a bug. If you uplod the files one at a time do you have the same issue?

Yes, I usually do upload the files one at a time. I haven't been able to
the lfn working as expected when doing blind uploads.

With FTP I am actually unable to upload anyfiles, so my problem with the
may be unrelated.
Command:STOR eight.the

Do any of these FTP errors seem obvious to anyone? I'm running filezilla on fedora.
That's FTPS, not FTP. Maybe try disabling TLS/SSL support in filezilla?

I'll give it a shot. Does SBBS support SFTP?

With TLS/SSL disabled I am able to transfer two files with the same first eight chars.
EIGHTC~1.TXT K 28B eightchars_1.txt
EIGHTC~2.TXT L 23B eightchars_2.txt
Any insights as to why when blind uploading the second file it resolves to EIGHTC~1 also and errors with "file exists", but with FTP it works ok?
The reason is because when you blind-upload to the BBS, its receiving the files into a temp directory and moves each received file, one at a time, to the uploads directory and Windows is changing the short-name of the file when it moves it. Try setting the "Search for Duplicates" option for the Blind Uploads directory to "No" in SCFG->File Areas.

I have updated the uploads dir setting to No for "Search for Duplicates" this seems to help but I'm not getting the behavior I would expect.
When I upload the second file I get an error
!ERROR checking EIGHT3~1.TXT
The sysop has been notified.
The file is physically uploaded to the upload dir, but the second file
listed in the terminal server file system, only the first file is displayed in the file listing.
Any ideas as to why the second file doesn't show up in the listing?
Also, what terminal program are you using to perform these batch uploads, out of curiousity?

I'm using syncterm for linux in fedora. From what I remember its a more recent version of syncterm that I download from the site.
fyi: I'm still somewhat stuck to a Sysop & QA role until I have myself completly setup in a dev environment.
( I basically went through the biggest struggle of my life during the last few years. Still catching up... ;) )
I'm confused as to how you're accomplishing that with SyncTERM as it doesn't support batch uploads.
Ah, sorry to hear that. But welcome back!

From the terminal system I do File System->Enter Batch Mode->Upload Files
Upload Queue.in
Since there are no files in my upload queue, the upload file dialog opens
syncterm and I simply select the file. This allows me to upload the file with the LFN even though I'm only uploading one file at a time.

Right. But you were having troubles with uploading *multiple* files at a time, which is why I asked what terminal you were using to do that. SyncTERM doesn't support uploading multiple files at a time.
I'll give it a shot. Does SBBS support SFTP?
Nope. It does support FTPS however that doesn't seem to be working for you.
