    I'm getting the following error when I execute a door game on Win32/Synchronet.

    <name> running c:\os\cmd.exe /C c:\location\doorgame.bat on node 1
    The system cannot open COM1 port requested by the application.
    Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

    What causes this error?

    You're not running it as a 16-bit DOS program but rather a native 32-bit program.
