• trying to get the telnet window in the html web screen to work

    From Rixter@1:103/705 to all on Thu May 16 08:37:58 2024
    I have checked this module: You're talking about the fTelnet app. Double-check the ftelnet setting in the [web] section of your ctrl/modopts.ini file.
    and ftelnet is set to true. I cannot get the connect nor the menu buttons to come up and work on the web page and the telnet windows just shows the synchronet ansi screen and a blinking cursor. the button that reads connect via telnet goes nowhere. should i have other ports open for this? i just have 23 and 8080 open on mine right now. All the other features seem to work fine. Sorry to ask so many questions. I am learning this as I go. I like the web interface it looks good and files and messages work well. just logging in via telnet window is dead. have a good day

    I got the telnet window to work on a desktop through the web interface by opening ports 1123 and 11235, on a mobile device i do not have an option for a virtual keyboard like on your vert.synchro.net site yet. slowly getting there.

    You are aware of the Synchronet Wiki, right? This page here is a good
    place to start:

    https://wiki.synchro.net/config:webv4

    There's a specific section there regarding ftelnet.

    I have just started reading it in my spare time. Thanks Gamgee. Trying to figure out how to get the keyboard to come up on tablet or mobile devices now. I have no problem on a pc or laptop, but here is no option for a virtual keyboard showing on my ipad or kindle when i log in on html *web* page of the synchronet remotely. I see it on other bbs's just cannot have keyboard input on my bbs right now on the web side. Unless you have a physical keyboard. Still trying to figure that out. Ugh.

    You must have the websocket service accessible for fTelnet to work. https://wiki.synchro.net/faq:tcpip#ports

    You may need to set:

    ftelnet_menubar = true

    in the [web] section of modopts.ini. This is disabled by default for some reason. With this enabled, perhaps you'll see the button to bring up the virtual keyboard. (Or not, I don't remember. Worth a try.)

    ftelnet_menubar = true

    This fixed the problem. I added it to modopts.ini web section and it works perfectly now. Thank you electric chicken 🐔.
