How does everyone download or upload ftp these days? I was trying to download some
door programs from the bbs archives at thebbs.org and found out there is no longer
an ftp download function. I could not save as either. thanks

A while ago, I heard a tip (I think from Digital Man) that Microsoft's Internet Explorer still supported FTP downloads, and tha
seemed to work for me. Or possibly an old version of a web browser that still supports FTP downloads, or even a stand-alone FT
program would probably work.
I don't know if archives.thebbs.org supports FTP uploading, but if I want to upload somewhere via FTP, I'd probably use a
stand-alone FTP program (such as FileZilla).

When I have to use ftp, I use wget usually, Or just a good old fashioned 'ftp' client.

Did you see they removed FTP support from wget2?
I had to switch to cURL

Ah, man. That sucks. I think I have a lot of readme/instruction docs that include example wget-ftp command-lines. :-(

If it's a host that i will visit more often and/or i need to synchronise folders: filezilla. (does SFTP and FTPS, and it has a
good server too).
If it's in a bash script, i use curl, because you can control retries and bandwidth.
If it's a one-off, in MacOS the finder itself can do it. Go > Connect to server > ftp://... and it mounts it as a network share
Works in windows too.

Floris

Thank you i will see if i can lay my hands on an old web browser. Have a good day.
I just found this out yesterday while messing around, but if you're using Windows 10 or 11, try your simple file explorer. Open it up, and type in the ftp address. I was amazed that it actually worked.
