    OpenXP
    ======

    [CONS]
    No support for USB printers.
    No support for Wireless printers.

I've never gotten OXP to "print" anything for me. I thought that at
least my options to select my *virtual printers*, CutePDF or OneNote2007, would pop up as choices, but they don't.

BTW.. considering that OXP seems to inherit direct references to legacy LPT1/2/3 etc.. for configuration, maybe the hacks out there to redirect LPT# to USB# might work?

I wouldn't know about that but if a user has an old parallel port
printer, that should work. Mine did back in the days when I used
    CrossPoint.

    [PROS]
    ----------8<----------
    Twit filter.

How do you do that? One shortcoming in OXP is the lack of overall Help Search. There is really no clue *where* to find certain features when I want. :(

Yes, I have to agree and even a certain seasoned user has difficulty
    finding stuff now and again.

And some of the features that you cite could use a little more
    explanation like this:

    Autopost feature.
    [Automatic Message-Sending] = Edit/Autosend

This is the list of messages to be sent auto-
matically. The list can have as many entries as you
wish. Note: All auto-send messages must exist indivi-
dually as files on the disk.

Yes, I could write the proverbial book about it all :-)

Autopost sounds very handy for the busy writer or sysop.

It's very handy for a moderator to automatically post the echo rules.

    Open source(GPLv2).
Source freely available either by svn or by d/loadable ZIP archive.
    Actively developed.
    Responsive developer.

Again.. all good! So, things like this would be great in the comparison table as extra notes.

The reason why I added those as [PROS] was because all those four
items don't apply to the other two Point programmes.

    Regards,
    Martin

You can trick Windows by using the USB printer as a "network" printer connected to LPT1.

    net use LPT1: \\[Computer-Name]\Printer /PERSISTENT:YES

I don't have any printer connected to my OXP hosted pc, otherwise I would confirm. But I used this method several years ago to revitalize a custom DOS program to work with a new USB printer.

Many thanks for that very useful information. Would you happen to know
if that method would work for wifi printers.

Maybe a separate "app" that can emulate the OXP menu but include all the

Give it a try! ..and let me know. :)

Windows won't care what technology a printer is. It only needs the printer name. You just have to identify the printer and give the parameters to
    "net use LPT1:"

I could start with [1] simple screen shots, and then just index the collection, to create a table of contents. Then, a CTRL-F for search through *that* document would be a beginning.

OR.. [2] build a Table of Contents using Wordpress like I do here:

    http://tales.wellandhistory.ca

Wordpress does all the work for the listing.

For the contents, there would be a "post" for each item in the menus with Tiles like this (eg):

    Message/Search..
    Message/Search/Text
    Message/Search/Subject
    Message/Search/User @U
    Message/Search/Special
    Message/Search/Marked(for reply)
    Message/Search/Marked
    Message/Search/Unmark
    Message/Search/MessageID

    etc..

    Message/Export..
    Message/Unsent..
    Message/All..
    Message/Change..
    Message/Action..

Then when someone does a S)earch on the website, the full path to the "command" will appear in the Title and then the body of the post would contain the textual help.
