whoo hoo! my new CD stash..
Not a single scratch or smudge on the play surfaces.
That's a pretty good haul, where did you get these?

Looks like you need to fire up a copy of AudioCatalyst or
AudioGrabber and start making some MP3s! :)

Never heard of those progs. For me, I'm sticking with iTunes.
BTW.. has anyone here messed around with VBR mp3?

No.. That was the ADDITIONAL CDs that were delivered to me.
;) I think I have just about as many as you show on your pic
below.

Start scanning those barcodes! When the codes are in a file,
you can easy copy/paste them to Discogs.
In my closet I have about 6 stacks of 80 or so discs, I
have a shelf full and I have a couple of large boxes full
under my desk, plus a bunch of shelves full in my office
which I am keeping for personal reasons and don't want to
sell.

Or I could download the MusicBrainz virtual server and
database, and the Discogs export and load it into the
database, then write a perl script to query both so I have
a better chance at a hit.
Yes, I am working on it slowly. Problem is, a lot of them
have stickers over the barcode from resale places so I
have to scrape to scan.
A lot are not listed and even then
you may still have to match up the correct release since
one barcode can be used for different catalog numbers.
It's really not just a point and click task.
Then I have to check the CD for scratches and the booklet for
damage...or even autographs (I have found a few).
That is some serious collecting over the years!
I started buying CDs *before* I even settled on a player. :D
I still remember the very first CD that I played: Avalon, by
Roxy Music.

Let us know how you manage.
The stickers are on the plastic. Just pop open the back of the
case. The paper inside will be free and clear.

Do those last.

Autographs.. so, you bought a subset of those at concerts?
Many of mine were/are ColumbiaHouse versions (10 CDs for a $1
type deal) for a few years.
But all of mine are prestine. Not one smudge or scratch.
I'm pulling out CDs from my stacks and impress myself how Fine/
AsNew they look inside.

Too much effort. I don't have that amount of time. People
may think that it doesn't take long, but when you've got
hundreds, it all adds up.
