You don't retire at 65 there? I thought you retired, but were pulled back in, & are now planning to retire again soon?

I worked till I was 66, since could get a few more dollars in retirement
each month if I did. :)
    And I re-retired on 29 April, at 72.
I had planned on that for January but held out until someone was properly trained in parking, which is my baby. The guy we finally got is a mini-me
and I felt secure enough things would be in good hands and to step back.
People would ask what I planned to do in retirement and I would always
say "One thing I plan on NOT doing is wandering about aimlessly for hours on end in the cold and rain". :)
But I do enjoy retirement. Six Saturday's and a Sunday every week!

I've only had two real birthday acknowledgements -- Age 19, when my girlfriend was planning a surprise party

I was given one surprise party.
I was turning 36 and this woman who had her cap set for me gave me one,
but I learned in advance about it, but acted like I was surprised.

    I'm fine, but I'm demanding a big deal when I hit 100, & every 50 years after!

That's idea I might celebrate as well. :)

True enough, especially with our respective governments gutting the pension plans WE paid for, & inflation killing the value of what was actually going to ever come back to us. . . (sorry, not politics -- just current events om the category of Economics)

I remember having that! Fun for awhile, but after 20+- years, I figured enough is enough, & got a job again, now working two jobs(as usual since having a child), but pretty much my own hours, so I get plenty of time off.

I found that having 7 day weekends each week was devaluing them as time off, as every day blended into the next, but then I hadn't earned that retirement yet -
    - to fully appreciate the difference & to accept it as due rest for a life's work well done.

Now I expect to work until minimum age 80, If I'm lucky, & keep working 2-3jobs at a time, or switch to my own company set (& work one job, 15+ hours/day, 6 days/week)

I was given one surprise party.

Nice guy - whatever happened to her? Wasn't a longer term sync?

Why not? Who could argue with this as a a demand? Being Canadian (part of the Queen's Commonwealth, I'll get a g formal letter from Her Majesty when I turn 100. I can't help but think I'll get one every 50 years after, too, until the novelty of my age wears off. From the Queen, or whomever is on the throne at the time of each of these milestones -- We also get one(royal letter/greeting) on the 50th wedding anniversary. Hoping my wife can pick up on my one little trick for longevity(not clickbait, as there's nothing to click nothing for sale) (not dying--see? Free!) & stick around for the duration.

Well, in 20 years I'll either be gone or sitting in a chair drooling on myself with no idea what's going on. :)

I found that having 7 day weekends each week was devaluing them as time off

That is one devaluation I'm all for. :)

as every day blended into the next

Been that way most of my life.
All too often I'll be talking about something and think it was only a
short time ago and be reminded it was several years ago.

Now I expect to work until minimum age 80

I would have continued working, maybe, had I not been considered a work horse who was on call 24/7 and to drop everything and hurry off somewhere at the last minute. And considered full time with no life other than work.
If I had been left alone to work one or two days a week only, I may have stayed on the job.

Nice guy - whatever happened to her? Wasn't a longer term sync?

She was hot for me but not I for her. She wanted more than just a friendship.
She was a widow and had several children, from about 12-25. I think she
had like five of them. Seems a new one to me popped up every now and then.
My mother and I convinced her to continue her education and she
eventually became a practical nurse and life was better for her.
In 1987 she was having financial problems and needed a car but couldn't afford one. I gave her the car my mother left me but within a just a few months her next to youngest, who had just gotten his license, totaled it.
He died in a motorcycle accident at around 20.
She died a couple of years later after a short illness.

From the Queen, or whomever is on the throne at the time

The way the old girl is going, she may still be there then. :)
I really like the Queen and greatly admire her.
I am an Anglophile. But it saddens me the way England is going now...
I just hope she outlives Charles...

    I do that,. &/or vice-versa, too often. . .

Up here, if you were "on call" you have to be paid $15.65/hour for that time, minimum. As of this past June 1st. (last of the 10c/year increase already in law.)

Naturally employers still try to sneak it past people. . .

I am an Anglophile. But it saddens me the way England is going now...

You're not alone in that(most Brits I know think likewise)! He's quite the crusty old doofus, with nowhere near the class requisite for such an honoured throne!

    Joe,

Well, in 20 years I'll either be gone or sitting in a chair drooling
on myself with no idea what's going on. :)

So, that asserts your mind will be gone...if it isn't already. <g,d,r>

When did I last do that??

I would have continued working, maybe, had I not been considered a
work horse who was on call 24/7 and to drop everything and hurry off somewhere at the last minute. And considered full time with no life
    other than work.

And, they probably would've sued The Lord for "wrongful death" if you
had died, on the job, or otherwise.

The way the old girl is going, she may still be there then. :)
I really like the Queen and greatly admire her.

I really liked Margaret Thatcher. She hit the nail on the head when she
said "Sooner or later, you run out of everyone else's money".

Its been drifting away for some time. Of course the boat wasn't tied
that securely to the dock to begin with...

All requests for death must be submitted two weeks in advance.

    I really liked Margaret Thatcher.

I have a picture of her on my wall.

Too bad we lost Princess Diana 25 years ago.

Don't get me started on that woman.

    What tightwad prepared that rule??!!
