    With a ever shrinking tax base a mayor came up with the idea to have
    everyone who works within the city limits "contribute" $5 a week for the privilege of working in town. (Started at $1, then $2, then $3, then $4.)
    Makes no difference if one makes $1,000 a week or minimum wage, all pay
    the same amount.
    The money was said to maintain infrastructure and such and solve all the city's problems. We still have the problems. And the money has disappeared.

    Unfortunately that does seem to be the case. After all... it IS their
    oney...

    You know, it must be nice to be a politician.
    You want more money, you just vote yourself a raise.
    Deep in debt? Just raise the debt level....

    Tried raising the credit limit with the credit card companies, and
    that didn't work. :P

    When they try to offer me one, I tell them "I'm in Bankruptcy, and
    don't get $1100 a month...I'm not interested", and hang up.

    While I'm out of bankruptcy now, what they don't know won't hurt them.
