Once out of MYS/PA Buick drivers were more normal and no problems.
Just a coincidence, no doubt.... :)

People around here (along with states bordering Ohio) complain about
Ohio drivers. They seem (in general) to be the worse in the country [or city for that matter].
Once they cross the river they seem to forget what red lights/stop
signs mean, what speed limits mean, etc.

    That's pretty bad....

The worst drivers I've come across are the ones in the Boston area... aggressive and rude....

Or like the old joke...? "She's pretty", "She's ugly", "You're both
    right, she's pretty ugly"..... ;)

Or the old tagline: Beauty is in the eye of the beer holder. :)

That has a certain validity to it.... <G>

That is funny as I have heard that also. However, I was reading an article yesterday (or Thursday) about the worst and best drivers in the US. Massachusetts was in the Top 5 best because apparently they have fewer accidents, fewer tickets, and fewer DUIs. There were a couple of other
markers used, and some of the markers involved using Internet search
    histories vs. law enforcement stats.

I figure that means that they are all so used to their rude driving that
they somehow manage not to hit each other.... and maybe the cops up there
    are lax on speeding. :)

That reminds me of the scene in the movie "Cannonball Run". These two
females in this car were always speeding...and invariably would get
stopped by the police. Well, the officer was usually male, and they
would basically make like they were disrobing and flirting with the officer...who'd get so flustered that he let them go on their way. But,
one time, it was a female cop who pulled them over...needless to say,
their trick didn't work that time. <G>

i can always tell when you are down because your automated postings do not show up for a few days and then suddenly there's 2 or 3 or more posted into each echo... i'm assuming that that is because your system is running the events but not sending the mail at that time... then you do whatever and get your connection working again and so all of them come out... if your machine is down, then i would expect some days to be skipped but i haven't paid that much attention to the posting dates...

Massachusetts is a fairly good-sized state, and most of it is NOT part
of the Boston area, so maybe the rest of the state balances them out...?
There is a fair bit of the state that is open country, so likely fewer accidents and tickets etc....

Poor Maryland, made up mostly of Baltimore and the edges of Washington
DC, and not much more of the state to balance things out.... ;)

I figure that means that they are all so used to their rude driving
that they somehow manage not to hit each other.... and maybe the cops

Those are also quite plausible thinking... <G>

There are parts of western Maryland that stick into parts of the eastern panhandle of WV.
When I was going to DC a few months ago there would be a Welcome to
Maryland road sign, a few miles on "You are now leaving Maryland" with a Welcome
to WV sign, followed a few miles after that "Welcome to VA" sign. :)

True... it's just that the other two more than overwhelm when it would
come to statistics... ;) I've been in that part of MD also.... but
mostly in Baltimore, Washington and Annapolis (and points around and between)... friends and family all through there... :)

One easy way to tell in that area if in WV or MD is the MD highway has a slight pinkish tinge to it. :)
Sort of like when one leaves one county in their state for another and
    the road conditions change. :)

I run into that with roads that cross small bits of counties that stick
out into other counties as well... Plus there's a section of Rt 17,
running along the border between NY and PA that does do a little
crossing back and forth between the two states... :)
