What does that even mean? "Behind now on kernels"?
Most likely that means just "Gentoo already does have the actual
5.5.4 kernel, while Slackware does not (yet)".
I don't really care: once `git fetch` would get a new stable tag,
I'd have the fresh x86_64 kernel in 15 minutes, and arm64 in a
hour. The check is performed twice in a hour.
What does that even mean?
"Behind now on kernels"?
stay away from opensource
i like to know if 5.5.x is unstable since slackware does currently
only have 5.4.20 last time i updated it
stay away from opensourceYeah right. Tell that to Bill. ;-)

I just checked the current source and it is 5.4.20 as we speak. Also glibc-2.30 and gcc-9.2.0 while we're at it.
As for stability 5.5.4
seems to be fine ... so far but I've only got it running on one system thus far. I was going to wait for 5.5.5 before upgrading the other
two systems, one of which I am typing this message on via a ssh login.
I know how to have fun.
i would love to see opensource of basic 7.0 in commodore 128
gentoo have now gcc 10.x masked on its way so
you need to update now :)
i would love to see opensource of basic 7.0 in commodore 128Is there much demand for it?
gentoo have now gcc 10.x masked on its way soI was figuring around the end of March or so. I see the gcc-8 branch
is frozen for a release.
you need to update now :)Not yet. Turns out that at least one of my machines has a major issue with 5.5.5. Too bad as I thought that version would look good in a default setup here. I am not unhappy where this sits today.
and gcc 9 is stable on gentoo
if there is new kernel you will have to upgrade to it to see if
problem is solved
Linux version 5.5.5 (root@heatsink) (gcc version 9.2.0 (GCC)) #1 SMP

I plan to bring that back into sync with the others sometime later
today.
upgraded :)
Same here except only one machine at this moment. The other two I
plan to bring up to date sometime within the next week. Still no penguins on two of the machines although the framebuffer consoles are
as good as ever.
had a very funny problem today, postfixadmin would not work with
latest chrome browser
what if its a security problem on microsft edge that allows me to
login only there
