  • Send email with golded+

    Hello, All.

    I wanted to know how the possibility of sending emails through golded+ works.

    I tried to configure but I don't understand with what program you need to do the toss of the message and what software you need to use for sending and receiving emails.

    You can for example use a fido2mail gateway.
    I used Golded a looooong time ago with soupgate.

    As far as I know Golded does not have direct mail support.
    The functionality is to display email adresses etc. in fido messages.
    But they are stored in the normal messagebase and need to be exported by some external software.

    if I don't get it wrong soupgate is an email tosser with regards to email and newsgroups right?

    As far as I remember you configure a virtual node for the mailgateway. (eg. 7:1/1)
    Soupgate will fetch mail and news and drop the packets in fido format to the tosser.
    That will toss it and golded will show it.
    When you reply, the reply will be sent out by soupgate.

    Yes and no. :)

    It can read and write soup packets. No need to run a gateway, just a souper like VSOUP.

    Sorry ... haven't looked into this for nearly 20 years.

    What I remember is soupgate (fairly easy).
    And FidoGate and GIGO which are both quit challenging.

    Tommi is right that Golded can import/export SOUP packets ... so you can search for such software as well.

    I just tried with uqwk as souper and soupgate as gateway.
    Soupgate created defective PKTs. I guess it is not 64 bit capable.

    There are 1053 bytes of unknown data at the end of pkt file!

    Will try goldeds very limited SOUP import/export.

    Hmmm golded expected msg in small letters.
    When I renamed 0000000.MSG info .msg it imported it.
    When I answer the mail, and export it I get a veeeeery long reply SOUP packet when I export it:
    -rw-r--r-- 1 fido fido 4294967300 Mar 1 15:43 GOLDMAIL.MSG

    Maybe a 64 bit issue??

    Maybe somebody can look into this??

    I'm doing some tests and it seems to work with soup gate I just have to understand the whole process well. Thanks to everyone for suggesting me some programs that are right for me.
