Not dumb at all. All I simply did there was type in "Testing from

I still haven't figured out how to use the TGID for netmails yet.

On a brand new message originating on the Telegram side, the
gate takes the first words in the message to use as the
    Subject.

That is why I wrote "MID: 2:460/58 5f50f239" from the Telegram
side in such a way so that the first few words would
specifically imply the right subject for the message.

I am sure Stat could adapt the Telerame gate to utilize
something like "[key]" tags in the body of the messages to be
used for specific things on the FTN side, if he wanted.

    [s] = Subject

(And I have to translate in my head that TG = Telegram and

Hmmm. Maybe we should adapt a new short-form for Telegram for
use here? TGM or TgM (Telegram Messenger)?

Stas is a master programmer. ;)

For a new message that originates from the TgM side (except for
New User annoucements), he takes the first few words of the
    first line of text.

If a TgM user uses the proper R)eply option, then the original
Subject line is maintained for the thread.

So, it would be a good idea to not start all new messages in
TgM with "Hi.." ;) ..and just get right to the matter and
describe the purpose/subject in the first sentence.

If the message, or quoted message, does not contain the line "--Subj: Message subject--", ending with a line feed, then the first forty characters of the message are taken as a subject.

If the gate does not know the Fido address of the message sender, then the kludge @REPLAYTO 2:460/58 1234567890123 is also substituted. Otherwise, it is possible to contact the author of the message directly by netmail and this kludge contains his Fido address.

TgM + the gate is just a way to access echomail. I can't imagine a user being completely satisfied to *just* use TgM for participating in the echos. Unless had an external bluetooth keyboard, I can't see myself writing anything, like am doing now, with a smartphone virtual keyboard.

TgM lacks the ability to sort messages. But it seems to have an awesome S)earch
feature. You can also "pin" messages that you may want to reply to later.

Ultimately TgM is a chat program. It doesn't care about a Subject. Incoming messages from the Fido2telebot are just one long scroll (and not linked).

But messages exchanged on the TgM side between participants *are* linked" if participants used the Reply option. Just tap on the author's name and TgM will move up to the previous Reply. You can walk up the chain of conversation that way.

This is a unique identifier for the user. The rest can be changed or absent altogether. Telegram clients usually do not show it to the user, using the Name instead, as a more human-readable thing.
This identifier can be used to write a personal message.
