I had thought that maybe you undid the lowercase option for the --to: and subj: commands. And I thought that maybe a space was now required after the : character.
Give it a test run. The telegram access is pretty good.
The biggest problem is that the chat format in instant messengers does
not quite match the format of conversations in Fido.
That is why it is good to find the echos that would be a suitable match - typically, the "chatty" echos. Any with tabular data or pre-formatted lines is not a good pick. The goal is conversation.
In addition, we
often have to stumble over the incompatibility of UTP-8 and eight-bit encodings adopted in Fido.
Yes.. your CP866 kinda limits some things. But I wouldn't worry about that. Conversation in English mostly only requires the common letters anyway.
