just not the traffic any more to justify so many of them. There's
really only need for one or two networks. It's not like the philosophy

Maybe FSX could be that network. It's busy, probably the first network
other than Fido a lot of sysops add. I am sure Avon wouldn't be against expanding the number of groups to take up where other networks get
dropped. pinet for example, I doubt we need an entire network dedicated
to Rpis when a single echo should do the job. There really isn't that
much traffic.

Yup, I think it's already been established that FSX is here to stay, and
has a lot of value. It was less than a year ago that Avon did add a
bunch of new echos, so yes I'm sure some more could be added if needed.
The RPI echo on Fido is semi-active, but could be improved with more
posters and better content, which might naturally happen if it were the
only game in town.

That network was pretty busy when it first started, but it dried up quick.
Both FIDO and TQW have echoes dedicated to the Pi.

Your system is amazing. The nntp part is a nice way to provide
outreach.

Most of the potential users are probably hanging out on their
smartphones. Aftershock and Hotdoged are cool tools, but they
have a bit of a learning curve for the average user. Telegram
+ @Fido2telebot is a much simpler and viable choice.

Once linked up to BBSes via the phones, perhaps those users can
be made aware that there are ways to enhance the echomail/bbs
experience on a desktop/laptop.

Too bad, that sysops in general are poor marketers of their own
hobby.

I have a few friends I've traded banter with privately for years now and I
find thats enough enjoyment for me. Its nice to converse that way without someone else chiming in. All of the echoes I'm tempted to put on Passthru for all my links with maybe just a small number of ones I "have" to participate left on my board.

If something is important or at least mildly amusing then I'm sure someone will bring it to my attention.

Theres just too much noise I beginning not to care for anymore. Test messages are skipped and I don't care about discussing Linux or other BBS software or Russia or the toppings preferred on my pizza or whatever.

I'd like to provide an nntp newsfeed for my users, but I'm not sure how
to do it, other than importing every single nntp group into synchronet
and I don't think that's really feasible.

Also, I would want people posting to usenet as their own account and
since my nntp server is remote from my BBS, I'd have to script some
sort of user editor to sync the bbs with usenet.

Even I can do that, limiting myself to Netmail only.

interesting... you're getting a "reset by peer" error whereas
mine with binkd is just a timeout...

Yep, although mine eventually times out, too.

I think it's been that way for a while now, looking back through
logs...

mine has been happening since 2022 Jan 16, i think... i'll bet
there's a ton of echomail sitting there waiting to be
delivered...

About that same time frame since I last saw traffic.
