    In German there is a transliteration to replace the 'ö' (o diareresis) with 'oe'. But that only works in German. In Dutch and Scandinavian the 'oe' is already "taken" for another vowel.

    Sorry mate, to have both Cyrillic and Latin with diareses in one and the same message you need UTF-8. ;-)

    Well, at least it's more accurate, unlike that "phi" character that shows without conversion.

    That's it, I see that you do use the utf-8 charset and simply type/paste the needed character (which on my end shows as 'ö'), nonetheless everyone keeps telling me GED doesn't support utf-8. Does it now, or am doing something wrong? Or does it provide only partial support of European alphabets?

    Golded has very limited support for UTF-8. With the internal editor in my setup it only works for a limited subset of the accented and umlauted European characters. With an extran UTF-8 editor I can do almost anything.

    Yes, I believe e.g. in passports they use that instead of the special character (o with two dots). =)

    Yep, I forgot you can use an external editor with GED (the option I've
    never actually tried).
