Btw: I have not checked if all these systems are connectable with the supplied information (for instance mystic systems don't support ITN, out of

SBBS (and a lot of software) strips seen bys when linked out of zone. That's the way fidonet software is designed to work.

There is an option in sbbsecho.ini that will stop that from happening. I have this in my sbbsecho.ini so traffic heading to other zones don't loose the seen bys..

ZoneBlindThreshold = 4

With that set mail going to links in zones 1-4 won't have the seen bys stripped.

Quite correct, but there was a big discussion about that a while back. Given that I'm pretty sure there's no net number duplication these days it's pretty safe. I had set zone blind for fidonet zones. Finally found it in echocfg again though and it seems to have been toggled off again. I wouldn't think that the most recent update would do anything to sbbsecho.ini though.

Unfortunately since a couple of years there is 1 duplicate net between Zones 1 & 2, Net 310. Luckily they don't have overlapping nodenumbers, so there are no issues with seen-by's. And besides net 310 in Zone 1 can be abolished, because the only node in this net no longer exists:

In a declining Fidonet as it is, there really shouldn't be a need to create new nets. And if the RC feels there is a need, it is his resposibility to check he doesn't use an existing net number in another zone. Yes, but ... a ZC is also just only human, so unless he/she reads the nodelist as if it were the Saturday newspaper, the ZC will never know. Netmail may become totally routed wrong for concerned nodes but then again, unless that is made obvious it will not reveal the true cause.

ZCs have a kind of understanding we stay away from duplicate net-numbers. Technically with the current set of ZCs that works, in the past it wasn't always that evident.

As for the 310-overlap ... well, I think the duplication happened honestly without an agenda and we can live with it.
