Hello Bj”rn,
Lee is posting in an echo, and from a BBS, legally covered by
Swedish law. In Sweden we still allow a lot of leniency regarding BF>>freedom of speech.
But hi is off topic.
We have nothing, yet, in Swedish law that limits the freedom of
speech based on being on topic or not. I usually tell him when he's
too far off limit, and he always respects my request. Good enough
for me.
Reporters Without Borders, Rankings 2019 (April 2019) -
3. Sweden
43. Italy
48. USA
As can plainly be seen, some countries are more equal than others
when it comes to freedom of the press (speech).
As for FidoNet, what should be the standard? Should it be a standard
for some, but not for all? Or one standard for all, in which every
sysop and non-sysop would be expected to abide by?
What you have in FidoNet today is three "sysop only" echoes, with
each of those echoes designed to be gossip corners for sysops to
discuss at length amongst themselves certain participants as if that
is the only thing on their minds.
Imagine that. Secret echoes. In this day and age. At least Ann
Landers and Miss Manners posted their columns openly, for all to read.
What ladylike creatures. None of them having the balls to man up
to the challenge of debating real issues. Much easier (and lazier)
to insult those who present challenges to their own warped worldview.
But hey. It goes with the territory. Kinda like politics.
What are the rules in politics? There are no rules.
Only, the ladies in those "sysop only" gossip echoes insist on rules.
Rules of their own making.
Those "rules" will not be honored. Or respected. Not by me.
Nor by anyone else with character. Which is something those ladies
have nothing of.
