    Yup. Top Gun. I was on R&R when I saw that in the cinema. I'd been sent down from deployment in Nambia to attend Special Forces selection, and got to spend two days in Johannesburg en route with a buddy.
    Loved the movie. I don't think I'll watch the new one. I suspect it won't have the same impact for me as the original did.

    I *do* remember the 1st film as a pretty good thrill ride wrt
    to the flying scenes, the tragedy, and the comeback.

    I just read the wiki plot of the film. Most of the "scenes"
    played back in my head. No need to see the film again. ;)

    But I hear the 2nd film has vastly improved flying scenes due
    to more clever filming tech, and suspense.

    You might like to give it a try and see what story Maverick has
    to tell.

    What I have seen is complaints in the veteran groups that there are a lot of small details that they've gotten wrong, especially as far as uniforms/decorations are concerned.
