Hello Charles Pierson, ur Inquire Over XXXXXXXXXX for VehicleLoan Have been Approved. Answer 5 to Finalize If u r Still in the Market for Vehicle?

Does anyone actually believe that I'd reply to this when it looks like something my teenage grandaughter would write?

Not to mention I haven't tried to get a loan for anything in a decade.

This was via text/sms on your phone?

Of course they want you to think they are legit. I bet they are targeting the individual who is either [1] completely gullible [2] a young person who just finished an online application for a car loan [3] some doped up soul who will click on anything.

The next step will be to grant them power of attorney to your finances.

Indeed it was. The only thing I changed was putting Xs where my phone number is.

I suppose that I shouldn't be suprised with all of the typos and other errors
I see in "professional" news articles. Proof reading and business
    professional writing is apparently dead.

The next step will be to grant them power of attorney to your finances.

    Like I have finances. :-D

The cost is sooo low that it is enought if 1 in 1000 answers.
And there are many stupid people.

If they would loose money by doing this, they would stop ;)

They'd figure out something else I'm sure.

What I do not understand is why you copy that spam here, to be honest.

It struck me as an exceptionally idiotic scam attempt, and I thought I would share it with my friends.

Then I remembered that I actually don't have any friends. The people I know here in the BBS community are what I've got.

It's a broad term that covers many things: eg. banking, debt,
credit, money, and investments. As long as you have a bank
account that's a first entry point of control by the holder of
    of the power of attorney.

It's good to broadcast experiences like that. It could be a
heads-up of a new scam or an old scam that has regained a new
    life.

For years, I'd get a phone call what sounded like a fundraiser
for "children in your area" and they'd name a local camp in a
local town where that camp is located. It is designed to sound
familiar because they cite a real camp and a real town. Yet they
expect me to fork over a donation via credit card over the
phone. They start with $25 per child.. "Can you make 4 children
happy?" If I say I can't manage this year, then they suggest
$25 for one child. BS. In this day and age, it is impossible
to verify their claims over the phone. So, that is basically
what I tell them. And they usually hang up before I do.

Another one is "This is your local branch of the OPP (Ontario
Provincial Police) calling..." asking to place an ad in their
inter-family newsletter "and all funds go to a local charity".

Again.. I tell them "as exciting as all that sounds, first of
all, I can't be certain that you are the police, or even if that
newsletter is legit, or the claim for funds directed to charity
is legit". And.. "besides, I can't be certain that your
families would even bother to interested in my business".

They seem to hang up before I do.

Then I remembered that I actually don't have any friends.

I don't know how to respond to that. With a large family like
yours, you must certainly have many "connections" of people.

I realize that, But my bank is basically temporary storage until bills are
due. No investments in years, never a credit card exceot once I had a company Travel and expense card that was used when I had to drive to other company locations when they needed my help with something.

On paper, I'm not so different from the people that t0hustle money on the street corners, except I'm less outgoing.

The scam calls keep coming, but I'm answering less of them. My mobile
service has something that seems to identify them and a message sonething
like "suspectex spam caller" on the ID. so I just ignore those.

Nice. Perhaps I could loan you a portion of my "credit
available". Across 4 credit cards and a PLoC, I can borrow up
to $140,600. But I am not going to tell you how much of that I
am already accountable for. :/ I just try to reassure myself
that whatever it is, it won't matter when I'm dead.

I had no idea that there are messages offered like that. I
thought it was just "unknown caller" at best.
