Chromium chromium-browser-stable-89.0.4389.128-1.mga8
on Mageia 8.
Chromium seems not to be remembering my passwords, etc. It used to do
so without trouble, but since upgrading to Mageia 8 it has stopped. It
offers to remember them (eg when I log into some location the window
comes up asking if I want to remember, but it does not do so, or
sometimes it does, but only if I remain in that instance of chromium. ) Chrome is also having this problem.
In Setup, the "remember passwords" is clicked on, but there are no
passwords listed. This has been going on for weeks. Any idea what is happening here?

Doing a google search, I discovered others have had the same problem,
and suggested deleting .config/chromium/Data/Login\ Data\ *.
The same problem happened in google-chrome, in which was .config/google-chrome/Data/Login\ Data\ *
I did that and it seemed to work in that both began saving the passwords again.
Both of these problems occured after I updated Mageia from 7 to 8.
However the solution did not restore all of the passwords which had been saved before-- a real pain.

can encrypt it if you can remember the password/phrase to unlock it.
Letting a tool* keep it for you may be Ok but I fear that anyone
who understands the tool may know right where your passwords are
and can replace them.
bliss boots the Pretty Cool Linux Operating System aka pclinuxos.
