I first heard about the fish shell about a week ago, when I came across
a description of it on YouTube:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ux1SP9B5lSQ&t=608s
It is available in the repos, and the commands to install it are
available, both written and video, e.g.:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wpinXVpL5-U
It is claimed to be easier to use. It can be installed system-wide, or
only for those users that want it. I have been using it for about half
a day. Most of the Bash commands work as before. The prompts look a
bit different, and there is a pattern of colors for various types of
text. Strings for a lengthy path statement for a file are shortened.
I used Ctrl+C to terminate a program, and at the end of the next
prompt, just before the ">", it printed [SIGINT] in red.
I think that for my needs, Bash is adequate, but others might be interested.
