• Ebay them or dump them?

From SH@21:1/5 to All on Fri Sep 30 12:06:45 2022
I have two Humax satellite set top boxes, 5300 VACI with embedded
Viaccess and two cam slots and a 5100CI with two Cam slots.

There is NO HDMI output, they are DVB-S only, so no HD TV or DVB-S2.

They have just SCART outputs for both a TV (in RGB) and a VCR (CVBS only)

ALl in fully working order complete with remote control, instruction
    book and original box.

Question is, is it worth my while to ebay them as a job lot or am I
better off dumping them into the WEEE skip at the local tip?

(I suspect I already know the answer but just seeking confirmation :-) )

If the power supply is a separate PCB *and* the front of the case is
reasonably absent of holes, it may make a good project box for something.

    Otherwise, yeah - skip.

Well, maybe somebody might like them. Its worth a try I suppose. If it were
not Sat but terrestrial, then I know a lot of people who would have one at
    the right price for bedrooms.

One of them there ham radio rally thins perhaps, if you have other
electronic stuff to get shot of. What happened to that law which was
proposed making the manufacturer responsible for end of life of their
    products?

Someone is trying their luck... :-) (definately not me!)

The point about PSUs is interesting:

I actually had both PSUs fail and ended up buying a PSU Relkit from
Martin Pickering at Satcure and fixed both PSUs myself.

Wasn't that the retailers? Physical retailers tend to sponsor small electricals collection sites. I think Amazon has a scheme, but it is
    not well publicised.

I'm not sure if the suggestion of putting it in the dustbin was legal
for consumers, but I'm pretty sure it isn't legal for businesses.

All right, clever dick! Put it in next door's fucking dustbin!
