• C4 HD on Sky and Freesat

From Mark Carver@21:1/5 to All on Tue Sep 27 11:09:39 2022
By close of play today C4 HD should be remapped to Ch 104 on both platforms.

(At present that only applies in the London region, but today C4 have
launched their 5 other ad regions on HD, so Ofcom allows them to be
    mapped to 104 )

That would be useful - seems odd that all the other channels at the top of
FS EPG are HD (except 101) apart from 4. I'd still keep 4 SD as the EPG is a whole no. of steps to go through it.

Tellies were a rare beast back in the daze o' me yoof. I was 7 y.o.
before we got our BBC only telly, with vertical and horizontal hold
    controls on the back.

I remember when next door got ITV, which was rumoured to be
in colour. It wasn't, of course, but it was a great privilege to be
invited round so we could see 'Our Gang' in glorious small screen
    monochrome. ~1956

The Sky changes did happen yesterday, I don't think the Freesat ones
    have yet ?

Yes it must have been before that date, since I saw the Coronation on the TV
at our flat in Wandsworth, on a set provided by Redifusion.

This was because my dad worked there and the device had a back projected picture, and made a very loud whine.
It had an input on it for a different tuner or a wired box apparently, but
it was only when ITV came along that the tuner was used. We, being in London and on ch1 never did need to retune it of course.
The later versions had a turret tuner with what were called biscuits inside for the bbc and eventually itv channels.

Because, one way or another, C4 has always had regional ads (ever since
it was born 40 years ago)

I thought it had just been or was being sold. If that is the case then might they just not run it as a network?

It hasn't been sold, but I don't see what difference that would make to
selling regional ads. Most national media do it

Sky Q user: Noticed yesterday on the planner that I had two instances of the bakeoff programme set to record, both on 104. I had a series link on the old 4HD channel number which it looks like sky had moved the channel number to 104 but in addition there
was the same programme, also on 104. I didn't wait to see what happened at 8pm - just deleted one of the instances after removing the series link. No other repeats of this problem with any future 4HD programmes in the planner...
