They are advertising them at 2 for £7. Closer to christmas they will be £5+ per plastic tin.

would seem, modern Scalextric, are assuming that a lot of people intend
to have a last fling before they go into financial lockdown, especially
given that the government appears to have legislated Covid out of
existence (at least for those of working age). Possibly hoping that
someone will bail them out of their fuel debts in a way that wouldn't
happen for Christmas debts.
They are maybe also assuming that many have not planned ahead for the
energy price rises and they need to extract money from them before they realise they can't afford it.
However, as this is USENET, I should also point out that September
