• BBC News Subtitles

From Jeff Gaines@21:1/5 to All on Fri Jan 7 18:30:04 2022
Has the BBC just started to put subtitles on News 24?

They have started to appear on my screen and I don't remember turning them
on but may have I suppose, can't find how to turn them off though.

I've found the "off" switch thank goodness!

I take full responsibility for what happened - that is why the person that
    was responsible went immediately.

How (can) you turn off the signer? I find it quite distracting, plus
    is uses up screen space.

This was sub-titles, not the signer. Bearing in mind the only way to turn
them off was to find the original remote that was tucked in a drawer I
imagine they turned on using ESP :-)

I like the signers, they are so animated!

Bit of cardboard and a bit of sticky tape and a string to move it?

I thought they were a source of humour. I know the bbc have been asked to
start to add audio to their interviews on news in foreign languages instead
of just subtitles. Has anyone come across that as yet?

I believe the signer is in the transmitted image. On the other hand, in
terms of news, I believe that sometimes the same news is broadcast on
different channels, with and without the signer.
