I was going to watch this, but it's a very poor picture, even in HD.
It's getting on my nerves. Why don't they show these old films in proper HD?

Maybe its the only copy they have and hd crap will look worse than sd crap?

This used to be a little hobby horse of Bob Monkhouse when he was looking
for films to preserve with his company. So many copies of copies of... etc that were really not worth preserving.

Maybe they are still using a copy of the film that was transferred on old equipment in SD, which is then upscaled to HD. Modern telecine can make a tremendous difference in resolving shadow and highlight detail and avoiding
PAL artefacts, jitter and noise. I've seen it with remastered versions of TV programmes (16 mm film) such as The Sweeney.

When I first read the name it sounded like some dodgy tele marketing outfit.

I noticed both C4 and C5 had gone to the trouble to obtain (or perhaps
get mastered themselves ?) decent HD transfers of White Christmas, and
    Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

Chitty Chitty bang bang should be OK It was made with stereo sound, so the actual film quality was good I remember it from my youf.

I never thought that the flying car effects were at all convincing.
