Not watched "Ascent of Man" in ages. IIRC he did tend to pause as
he worked out what he wanted to say next, and also speak in a rather
specific manner. That's probably more distracting than modern, more
laid back and practiced, presenters.

I can still recall one of the later episodes of the original 1973
broadcast of the "Ascent of Man" where Brownowski, who is Jewish, is
standing ankle-deep in water at Auschwitz as a testament to the deaths
there.
It remained with me. Nowadays you can find such clips on YouTube.
