• Is anyone actually going to watch the coronation?

From Brian Gaff@21:1/5 to All on Thu May 4 11:58:18 2023
Apart from quite a lot of older people, most seem to be saying, we will hear
on our phones if there is anything newsworthey, but unfortunately the
weather could be rubbish, so I might give it a glance every so often.

As an older person, I plan to go out for the day - found some things I
    want to photograph in Perthshire.

Just never liked Carlo, like most 'environmentalists' he is a big
hypocrite and I dislike his mistress even more.

Yes I will watch it, it will be a spectacle worth seeing whether you
agree with the Monarchy or not, Britain at it's best so to speak.

I'll probably watch some of it, in between doing blind scans on my
satellite receiver to see what interesting feeds of the event I can find.

I did wonder if any Satellite TV channels would be broadcasting in the
clear UHD channels that are recievable in the UK?

My dish belongs to my housing association and is fixed pointing at 28.2°E.

The only regular free to air UHD on there are a couple of demo channels
that just play long loops of demo material.

I've seen various temporary things pop up, many are encrypted so I can't
even be sure what they are, but sometimes one or more is unencrypted. So
far I've seen normal SD, normal HD and some Irish feeds in Irish Gaelic
in 10 bit HDR at HD resolution.

I don't have a particular problem with the monarchy but these spectacles
strike me as Britain at its saddest. Like a fading, elderly film star
trying to relive their glittering career while wearing tons of makeup.
    PS
I too watched the last coronation when the country was also broke but
with more justification than now and it still had a few things worth
    boasting about.

well, I have a Wavefrontier T90 dish pointing at Astra 19.2E, Hotbird
13.0E, Eutelsat 5.0 at 5.0W as well as at Astra 2 at 28.2E.

There is a 2nd dish pointing at Hispasat 30.0W so I have the means to
pick up any UHD channels from any of these 5 positions.

The Wavvefrontier can recieve up to 16 satellites in a 50 degree arc so
its fairly easy for me to add an extra LNB if there was a satellite transmitting UHD in the arc between 28.2E and uo to about 21.8W.

    Congratulations.

I live in a multiple TV househould so we can all watch different TV
channels as multiswitches are also used... so no arguing over which Bird
the dish has to be pointed to!
