• OT: GeForce GT220 display adapter

From Scott@21:1/5 to All on Sun Mar 19 15:26:09 2023
I am having some difficulty editing and/or playing MP4 videos with synchronisation of sound and video. I tried to install a different
video converter but received a message that my display adapter needs a
driver update. However, this is not the case. However, it is very
old (2016 driver) and I wonder if I should be replacing the display
adapter. I thought I would ask here as I may not understand the
    answer on a computing group!

Is a display adapter the same as a video card? Can I just buy a new
card and replace the existing card? Is it likely to make any
difference in a 2010 bullt Windows 10 PC? The alternative is to bite
the bullet and buy a new PC with Windows 11.

Sorry, I think I am talking rubbish here. The video plays okay using
VLC media player so I don't think the problem lies with the video
    card.

you might be missing a codec on the computer.

You can get a codec bundle from CCCP at https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/cccp_(combined_community_codec_pack).html

Windows does over some codecs in their windows store like HEIC but this
    may be chargeable.

Another issue is you may need to check the accelation options from
within your software package and adjust as necessary.
