I contacted Freesat by email at 09:35 this morning and got a reply at 09:49!

I keep getting a message that my Freesat  Recordable 4K TV Box is setting
up the dish and then it has lost the picture. If I then select a channel I
get 95% signal strength and quality. It's a nuisance but I'm not sure how
to fix it (and Freesat just said it as nothing to worry about).

Is that a "Freesat" problem or a problem that should be addressed by the manufacturer of the box?

Freesat don't make boxes or TVs.

Freesat don't make boxes or TVs.

I don't know who makes the boxes but it's branded Freesat and I bought it
    form Freesat:

I was hoping they might give me a steer as to what to look for, once I've selected a channel the signal is perfect, 95% strength and quality.

Is it a particular channel or the whole transponder?

If your Freesat box thinks it is there (from its pre-loaded list), but it isn't broadcasting, then you can select the channel, but won't get a picture.

    An example would be CNN.

Well I doubt its the company who does the sats, morel likely to be a
completely different operation. Is it on several channels. Is the dish low
down and is there a tree or a building near the edge of where its pointed, bearing in mind that these dishes are often offset so the actual angle is
not what you see. If its trees then any slight fluctuation in signal might
set off the system doing stuff its not supposed to do when its set up.

It's the wideband version, fitted earlier this tear when I moved here. I
wonder if it has moved slightly although signal strength/quality is 95%
once the setting up bit is complete.

AIUI, wideband has two coax connections, one for all horizontally polarised transponders, the other for all vertical.

I was wondering if one coax might be unplugged, yet it's the one carrying the EPG, so it causes issues when scanning for channels? Or maybe the cables are crossed between dish and box (I'm unsure whether that matters).

I don't get the problem with a Humax Freesat recorder.

Is the Freesat box doing a channel update? Why do you switch it off -
they are designed to be permanently powered.

I don't turn it off at the mains, I assume (but haven't checked) that it
