• weird channels?

From Brian Gaff@21:1/5 to All on Wed Dec 28 19:12:06 2022
Since the Samsung firmware upgrade over Christmas, I've noticed that some freevew channels that used to say not available now load video of the web automatically. Together or some such is one of those. I also note that there are no sign of those adult channels now, well their numbers. Not that I care that much myself. Have they all gone online or has the update enacted some parental control in my set somewhere. If so its rubbish as Samsungs own channels seem to be completely unaffected by this, judging by the sound
    tracks I hear.
I wonder what awful rot we are going to get on new years eve?

Not looked this year, but in previous years, some music channels have temporarily changed their presentation name to something "Xmas oldies" instead of "80's oldies" or similar.

None of the radio did but quite a few tv channels changed their names back
in September to great Christmas movies and the like. To be honest I don't
think I've ever seen a Christmas movie that was anything but banal or silly.

There are several filmed around here (one not much more than a year
ago), nice to see the local scenery especially from their air.

Most of the films on the Xmas branded channels are made by Hallmark who
churn them out on a production line 365 days a year with the same group
of actors and slight variations in the scripts. The same rubbish has
    migrated to Ch5 this year.

    Good God, NO!

Now there's a memory. When the Interweb first got off the ground it was Sconthorpe as almost every bad language (etc) checker rejected the
correct name (look at the 'internal' word of the correct name!)

The footymad forums have a banned list that will, even now, convert

It is vital that teenage fans should not travel to Scunthorpe via
    Essex

    to

It is ***** that ****age fans should not travel to S****horpe via
    Es***

A legal firm for whom I was doing some IT work implemented a filtering
system (not my idea I hasten to add) that prevented them from
contacting any of their clients in Scunthorpe.

I never saw the results of their attempts to get to Penistone.
