Does anyone in the London area know if Gold is broadcasting trailers
about the closure of the medium wave service? Are they expected to
feature a closing sequence as Absolute Radio did?

Programme service ended last night at Midnight (with Bridge over
Troubled Waters the first record played by Capital 50 years ago)

Retune barker Midnight until 11am today, then the carrier was cut......

I thought it was to be October. I would have liked to hear that. I
assume someone will put it on YouTube. I still wonder why they did not
close LBC News on the same day.

Gold 1548 was to have closed on Aug 31st, but a major advertiser asked
for a one month extension. Don't know who, perhaps tfl, with their ULEZ
    ads ?

    LBC 1152 seems to continue..................

Found a few videos on YouTube. Nothing like the sense of occasion
there was when Absolute closed. A poor showing indeed from Global I
would say, though I suppose extracts from the Third Programme and
Radio 3 would not be very appealing to the management. Unfortunately,
the people who have captured the audio were not optimally placed for
    the transmitter.

Don't know, but I really also don't get why they exist these days, and
indeed would go so far as saying that they only exist due to the number of medium wave listeners they have. There are so many better automated stations around now that knock them into a cocked hat.
