• Holme Moss FM temporary loss?

From David Paste@21:1/5 to All on Tue Apr 12 07:10:41 2022
Late last night (approximately 03:30 Tuesday 12th April) all the FM stations from Holme Moss were off air, just static in their place. Does anyone know
if this was a planned piece of work, or did somethng exciting happen? I had
a quick search on the net for planned works timetables but found nothing.

    Thanks.

It's on the Beeb's reception website warning page

    Happening again tonight.

Thanks. That page states Radio 1 for my area as 98.5 but it's 98.9 for where I am in
Cheshire (on the Mersey). What gives? (also please don't judge; that's the only BBC
    frequency I can remember!)

Ah, that table you refer to is giving you adjacent area transmitters you
    can use as an alternative.

In your case it's quoting the Llangollen transmitter, which has good 'overspill' into Cheshire, Merseyside, and the nicer bits of Manchester :-)

Yes. And I think there's also been a new antenna stack fitted too
(slowed up probably by events at Bilsdale), so it's Trigger's Broom there !

I wonder if they've reused the old feeders, like a cowboy aerial man
    would...
