Is this the only podcast that is going indeed has become, a non podcast. I
have access to the podcast feed, and all that is on it is a trailer for bbc sounds telling us that it will be four weeks old by the time it gets on air
or on the podcast feed. This seems to be a really bonkers decision by some dumbo at the BBC especially as Science in Action is still available and I'll just change the feed to that instead. Let us hope they do not do inside
health, all in the mind and In Touch etc, the same way, since it would make
a mockery of the podcast system forcing people into listening on line via
the ill conceived bbc sounds feeds.

"Over the following weeks listeners will start hearing about new
episodes of In Our Time, Desert Island Discs, Inside Science, Friday
Night Comedy, Money Box, and 5 Live: All About Sport being on Radio 4 or
5 Live and BBC Sounds first."

So those are the ones that will be delayed for now.

And they have just about remembered "steam radio".

Its not working as advertised either. The thing is, If I've linked my alexa
to my sounds and bbc account once then I've done it half a dozen times, but when you say, ask bbc sounds to play inside science it still plays the
message not the show. Can you imagine if this starts to happen to
everything, since blind people often are not the ones who have the alexa app
so either cannot link it themselves or worse still do it via a blind organisation on one blanket amaze account.
What on earth is the point?
I can and do now play most bbc streams via radio player on the Alexa, and
for podcasts ask it to use Amazon or Apple podcasts, but these to only play their stupid message.
I know several Victor Reader stream users who listen to Desert Island
discs on the podcast feed, and I suspect being more or less a dumb pod
catcher they will not work either.

Tell Alexa to play the previous (or next) episode. It's between the
Jurassic pterosaur episode and the "Inside Science is now first..."
episode. Can't you use Sounds directly on some device? It must have "accessibility" options.

There is a whole difference between accessible and usable. A huge list is accessible but an ability to sort more efficiently is moor usable for
example when you realise you can only see what is basically under your
    cursor.
Besides it says its bbc sounds when it starts on the A lady. The other
issue is that I have it set up as a podcast in a podcatcher and that can't
see it and in bbc sounds there seems to be no podcast link either, so
streaming is the only way now?? unless you wait a month

For offline listening you can download it inside Sounds but you have to
go to Sounds (on the same device) to listen. It's not available as an
MP3, at least I've no idea where it stores it.

I personally don't care about the file format, I can convert that. I care
about simplicity and ease of access without messing about so I can shove it onto a non internet connected ram stick for listening on things like mp3 players. We after all pay their wages through the license fee, they should
be just making stuff simple. I've migrated toScience in Action which
although its less chatty seems often to cover the same things, sometimes
    even the same interviews.

Could this be related to the BBC Sounds skill on Alexa not acting on the
    entire command?

If the following voice command is issued to Alexa, the BBC Sounds skill
"loses" the last part (specifying which device).

"Alexa, ask the BBC to play Radio 4 in the lounge".

There are other frustrating bugs with the BBC Sounds skill on Alexa (such
as not playing properly on a pair of devices configured as stereo). The
BBC keeps promising to fix this.

Yes try Alexa enable radio player
Then alexa play bbc radio solent on radio player. If that works its not the skill, its all skills. I think the latter is the case, but I do not use
stereo pairs I us a dot with a stereo fed from the headphone socket for
    this very reason.

I think, in a way Amazon has createda monster. Recent problems seem to be
that similarly naked skills no longer ask and run through the list of possibles, instead they just plump for one and you get whatever it decides. This can be a real pain, for example if a particular set of talking
newspapers use the My Talking Newspaper skill and others use the talking newspapers skill. In the old days it asked which you wanted, but not now.
