I listen to Classic FM using my iPlayer Mini and Bose SoundLink Colour speaker. From time to time it cuts off. Any suggestions about the
cause or how to diagnose the cause?
Hard to say, probably best to do a test on the stream address to a pc and if >that drops out then its either their servers, routing issues or a fault.
I've noticed problems on the bbc as well through sounds and not which sounds >like buffering, but the virgin broadband is solid at the time so it has to

I was wondering if it is likely to be the Global server, my broadband connection (which is generally excellent - no other devices cut off),
the speaker itself (I see there is a new model) or the Wi-Fi
connection (using 5GHz).
Any help appreciated.

Thanks. I'll try that. I have a dedicated Internet radio in the
kitchen that seems to cope better. Could it be that my iPad has less buffering ability because of its age? Could there be any setting to
change?
I take it that it is not my Wi-Fi but would you place the iPad closer
to the router or to the speaker (I tend to put it at the midpoint).
Does it matter if I use 5 GHz or 2.4 GHz?

I wonder if you still get dropouts ("cutoffs"?) when you use a lead to >connect the iPad Mini to the Bose Soundlink speaker? You should be
able to do it with an audio lead with 3.5mm plugs at each end.

If you are near your router 5GHz is always better as it will be
significantly faster.
But there again, if you will insist on using an iPad..........

My Sonos speakers use wifi with no drop outs from Classic FM.

Does Sonos use the Global app as its feed, or does it have its own?

Sonos and similar wifi speakers get their Internet audio stream direct
from the router. The app sets up the stream but can be switched off
after that.
You can buy a 3rd Generation Echo Dot currently on offer from Amazon
for £17 which will stram Classic FM but it works with voice control.
Add another Echo Dot and you get a stereo pair for £34 which is a real >bargain, sounds half-decent and has no dropouts -- but do you want more >speakers?
What happened when you hard wired the speaker to the iPad Mini?
