A teenage driver who led police on a high-speed chase before crashing his car into a wall has been jailed.

Rocky Price, 18, of no fixed address, lead police on a pursuit in Newark, before crashing into a garden wall on London Road.

After an appearance at Nottingham Crown Court, was sentenced to 14 months in jail.

Price was initially spotted driving erratically, but then sped off — ignoring multiple requests to pull over.

He drove on the wrong side of the road, narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic and reached a top speed of 80mph in a 30mph zone during the incident on June 14, 2022.

Having managed to avoid causing an accident up until this point, he then collided with three stationary cars, causing significant damage to each of them.

The teenager finally came to an abrupt stop after losing control of his car and ploughing into a garden wall outside a house on London Road, Newark.

He was arrested at the scene of the crash and then taken to hospital as a precaution after sustaining minor injuries from the incident.

Inspector Matt Ward, district commander for Newark and Sherwood, said: “This was an incredibly dangerous display of driving that could’ve quite easily ended in tragedy.

“It is only thanks to the skills of the road crime team in pursuit, as well as sheer luck, that Price’s actions didn’t result in someone being seriously injured.

“His driving that night was reckless in the extreme and not what anyone wants to see, not just in Newark but on any of our roads across the county.

“There is absolutely no excuse for any motorist to drive so erratically.

Rocky was later charged with dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Price appeared before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on June 16, where he pleaded guilty to all the charges and was remanded in custody.

He then attended Nottingham Crown Court for sentencing on Thursday, August 11, where he was jailed for 14 months.

Inspector Matt Ward added: “It’s important that all motorists understand that speed limits exist solely to keep people safe and to reduce the chances of them coming to harm.

“The force is committed to keeping Nottinghamshire’s roads safe, so will always respond swiftly to any reports we receive of dangerous driving.

“We are pleased to see that Price has now been sentenced and we hope that he uses his time behind bars to reflect on the consequences of his actions.”

He would need a functioning brain for that to happen.

    Crashing into walls?

    Classic TCCB.

A teenage driver who led police on a high-speed chase before crashing into a wall has been jailed.

Rocky Price ignored officers' pleas to pull over and drove on the wrong side of the road at nearly three times the speed limit, narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic.

The 18-year-old collided with three stationary cars before hitting a wall.

He was jailed for 14 months and banned from driving for three years at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday.

Price initially fled from police into the Newark area on 14 June, reaching a top speed of 80mph in a 30mph zone.

He significantly damaged three cars before coming to an abrupt stop after losing control of his car and ploughing into a garden wall outside a house in London Road.

Officers arrested him at the scene of the crash before taking him to hospital as a precaution.

Price, of no fixed address, was later charged and pleaded guilty to dangerous driving, failing to stop, driving while disqualified and driving without insurance.

Insp Matt Ward, district commander for Newark and Sherwood, said: "This was an incredibly dangerous display of driving that could've quite easily ended in tragedy.

Here's "Rocky Price" - not exactly a fearsome boxer, is he?

The 18-year-old collided with three stationary cars before hitting a wall.

It was probably the car which that chav-cyclist was illegally purporting
to "drive" which hit the parked vehicles and the wall.

He was jailed for 14 months and banned from driving for three years at Nottingham Crown Court on Thursday.

A good result. All offending chav-cyclists should get a taste of the
    same flavoured medicine.

Price initially fled from police into the Newark area on 14 June, reaching a top speed of 80mph in a 30mph zone.

    He "fled"?

    TCCB.

He significantly damaged three cars before coming to an abrupt stop after losing control of his car

Are you sure he was the owner?

What is the point of a mere chav-cyclist owning a car he cannot / may
not drive? And which is not insured even against being damaged by
another chav-cyclist running into it while it is stationary?

and ploughing into a garden wall outside a house in London Road.

    Hitting a wall?

    Very TCCB.

No licence = chav-cyclist (but fully-unqualified for that).

Insp Matt Ward, district commander for Newark and Sherwood, said: "This was an incredibly dangerous display of [purported] driving that could've quite easily ended in tragedy.
