Free bikes are available for hire across the city tomorrow (Friday 22) in celebration of World Car Free Day. Brompton Bike Hire is offering people in Birmingham the opportunity to hire their compact folding bikes free of charge from lockers across the
    city.

World Car Free Day is an opportunity for people to go without their vehicles for a day, and a chance to reimagine what streets would be like with less traffic. Brompton say it is the perfect opportunity to ‘give cycling a go.’

The Brompton Bike Hire lockers are situated at Birmingham New Street , Birmingham Moor Street and Birmingham Snow Hill Station, alongside Brindley Place , Birmingham International and Aston University . To hire a bike, all you have to do is download the
Brompton Bike Hire app, sign up and use code ‘WCFD23’ to access your free hire.

On World Car Free Day, people are encouraged to travel by means other than cars. The event promotes improvement of mass transit, cycling and walking, and the development of communities where jobs are closer to home and where shopping is within walking
    distance.

Brompton Bike Hire are offering riders in Birmingham free hire to encourage participation. Julian Scriven, Managing Director of Brompton Bike Hire said: ‘’World Car Free Day is a perfect chance for us to think about what our towns and cities would
look like with less air pollution and traffic.

“We’re excited to be supporting that by offering people free rides in Birmingham. ’Brompton Bike Hire offers the opportunity to give cycling a go, with many of our riders going on to purchasing a bike. As changes to our climate become more
prevalent, it’s important that we all do as much as we can to reduce emissions.’’
