• St Austell hit-and-run driver leaves teen cyclist seriously injured

    A hit-and-run driver left as teenage cyclist in hospital with serious injuries. The incident happened when the boy was struck by a vehicle on an unnamed road near St Austell.

    The pedal cyclist, a 17-year old boy, was taken to hospital with serious injuries where he remains. The road near Biscovey Football Club, Starrick Moor, was shut while an investigation was carried out.

    Police say the collision at around 9.35am on Saturday (September 9) reportedly involved a black Range Rover which didn't stop at the scene. Following enquiries, a Range Rover fitting the description was located.

    A 55-year-old man from the St Austell area has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, failing to stop after a road accident and failing to report that accident. He has been released on bail, pending further enquiries.
    He is due to answer bail on Thursday, October 5.
