Police have appealed for the driver of a BMW to come forward after mounting the pavement during a chase as they tried to get away.

They force says they would “love to chat” to the driver involved following the incident and would like to reunite them with a T-shirt left on the seat. Officers indicated for the driver to stop in Bridlington on Tuesday but the motorist sped off
    instead.

Once the driver began mounting the pavement, police decided it was too dangerous to continue the pursuit. Now the force has appealed on social media for the driver to come forward.

Posting on Facebook, Humberside Police – East Riding North said: “This rather clean looking BMW X3 caught the attention of NPT's PS ALMOND while he was on a tasking. He requested colleagues from patrol attend in a marked car to stop the vehicle for
    checks.

“They made to the area and invited the driver to stop, but he failed to do so, and made off at very high speed. The vehicle was pursued for a short time before the fleeing drivers actions became too dangerous to continue the pursuit, after the BMW
mounted the pavement and continued at speed.

“A short time later the vehicle was found abandoned, the vehicle was subsequently seized and recovered. If you were the driver and you want your shiny, fast BMW back, come and see us at the Police station, we would love to chat. Oh, and you left your t-
    shirt on the seat too.......

“We will continue to target criminals operating in our town, so if you have any information that will assist us with the investigation, please call 101 and quote log 357 of 15/08/23.”
