More than 500 cyclists got in the saddle for the Gower Cycling Festival on Sunday.

There were three rides all as part of the event, with riders starting and finishing at The Secret Bar and Kitchen on Mumbles Road and the fundraising will see more than £1,500 donated to Ty Hafan.

The junior bike ride was an eight mile route to to Verdi's and back with an ice cream included for every rider.

There were then 12 and 35 mile options for those taking on the Gower Bike Ride with a 63 mile sportive option for the more experienced cyclists.

Andrew Jones from organisers White Rock Events said:

"It was another very special day and great to see everyone from age three and upwards getting involved.

"The riders were backed up by a considerable team of volunteers providing water and other refreshments along with our cycling marshals, first aiders, cycle repair teams, back up staff in support vehicles and many more and we would like to thank everyone
    for riding and assisting us."

He added: "On the 35 and 63 mile routes the main refreshment stop was at Llanrhidian Primary School with staff and parents holding a barbecue with all the money going to school funds while the nominated charity for the event was the Ty Hafan children's
    hospice.

"We are always delighted when an event is completed incident free and we would like to thank all the riders for being prepared for the distance they undertook.

"Apart from punctures there were minimal repairs required which reflects on preparation and our first aid crew weren't required throughout the day either.

"The atmosphere at the end as all cyclists mingled together was very relaxed with every rider showing off their 2023 medal.

"We would like to thank Cycle Solutions for their support in these financially challenging times and are delighted to have linked up with the Evening Post / Wales Online once again and supported Ty Hafan."
