• Cyclist dies and two arrested following 'hit and run' in Grimsby

    A cyclist has tragically died and two men arrested after a 'hit and run' in Grimsby.

    He died in hospital after suffering life threatening injuries at the scene on Carnforth Crescent. A 19-year-old and a 20-year-old man have been arrested in connection with the incident whilst investigations continue.

    Humberside Police were called to reports of a cyclist being hit by a grey Vauxhall Crossland, which fled the scene, at around 5.20pm on Sunday, 21 May. The cyclist was taken to hospital for treatment but sadly died on Wednesday, 24 May.

    His family have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. Humberside Police Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector Alan Curtis said, “Understandably given the nature of this incident it will be concerning to the
    local community, however I want to offer my reassurance that we have already made a number of enquiries to establish the circumstances and ascertain exactly what has happened.

    “As part of our enquiries, a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old man have been arrested in connection with this investigation and the circumstances surrounding it, and they currently remain in police custody.

    "I would appeal to anyone who has any information that may assist with our enquiries, or anyone who has dashcam or CCTV footage of the area around the time of the collision to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 458 of 21 May. If you
    would prefer to report information anonymously, you can do so by calling the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
