A DRIVER has been found guilty of causing death of a Deliveroo cyclist by driving without due care and consideration while over the limit.

Health care assistant Joshua Julian, 27, was found guilty by a jury at Reading Crown Court on Wednesday (May 17) of striking cyclist Tomaz Krohme, 35, on June 10, 2020.

The incident occurred at the junction of Addington Road and Alexander Road at about 7.25pm.

Mr Krohme was ‘thrown’ off his bike and into a tree after colliding with Julian, of Skinner Driver, Wokingham, who was driving home from the Royal Berkshire Hospital after a shift.

Julian, who denied the charge, was also found to be drug driving at the time with namely 4.9ug/L of cannabis in his system.

It was the prosecution’s case that Julian had been driving 44mph in a 20mph.

Defence state that Mr Krohme, who had almost two and a half times the legal limit of alcohol in his system at the time, had failed to give way.

Julian was charged with causing death by dangerous driving which the jury acquitted him off. Instead, they found him guilty of an alternative charge of causing death by driving without due care/consideration.

Julian will return to the same court on June 30 for sentencing.
